오랫동안 마음 깊숙한 곳에 숨겨놓고 두고두고 꺼내어 보는 사람이 있다. 오랜 시간을 함께 했고 오래도록 사랑 받았지만 그 동안 몰랐던 소중함을 그가 떠난 후에야 깨달았다. 왜 사랑은 항상 끝나고 나서야 시작되는지… 뜨거운 여름 스친 손끝의 시원함도 조심스레 속삭였던 비밀들도 모든 것이 끝난 순간부터는 나를 외면하기 시작한다, 마치 아무 일도 없었다는 듯이. 매일 밤 그가 잘 있는지 대답 없는 안부를 물어야만 하루가 끝나던 지난 가을, 나는 복잡한 마음으로 이불 위에 엎드려 빈 노트를 집어들었다. 그리고 그에겐 닿지 못할 내 마음을 노트 안에 가둬두었다. 그날 밤 나는 잠들지 못해 이 곡을 썼다. 어쩌면 이 곡은 기타솔로를 위한 곡이라고 말할 수도 있겠다. 가사가 많지 않고 반복적인 이유는, 말로는 다 할 수 없는 마음을 노트 안에 가둬놓듯 가사를 기타 선율 안에 압축시켰기 때문이다.
